ADSL BROADBAND

ADSL BROADBAND

The expansion of the ADSL is the Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line which is the type of the DSL (Digital Subscriber Line). The ADSL broadband splits the voice and data traffic by the splitters and provides a simultaneous usage of the phone and internet connection to the users. The ADSL connection is designed to provide a higher bandwidth for the download and a lower bandwidth for the uploading signals. It also splits the voice and traffic by allocating the separate bandwidth for the voice traffic. This feature makes the ADSL connection to allow both the voice phone and the internet connection.

ADSL VS CABLE MODEM

The ADSL broadband modem is considered as the direct competitor to the cable modem due to its simplicity and easy to install option. Unlike the cable modem, the ADSL modem can be connected by the plug and play in the computers whereas in the cable modem, it requires the cable port to be installed on both the connecting devices. The ADSL modems are less expensive and have a variety of models than the cable modem.

ADSL INSTALLATION

Before installing the ADSL broadband connection, its speed and the distance from the exchange should be known. SDSL is another type of the ADSL connection where the upload speed is very high than the ADSL and it is mostly used in the larger companies. The distance of the exchange from the home should be noticed because the speed of the ADSL broadband will degrade the performance if the distance is large. Also, the ADSL with the speed of 512kbps does not affect with the distance parameters. The installation of the ADSL broadband is very easy by its plug and play type. It can be installed by the user and does not require the help of a professional.

TYPES OF THE ADSL MODEMS

The ADSL broadband internet modems have three types of modems. They are classified based on the way of connecting to the computer. They are

* Ethernet ADSL modems which are fed into the Ethernet port provided in the system.

* The PCI ADSL modem fits inside the computer and it acts as an internal modem.

* The USB ADSL modem is the most common modem where it is connected to the USB ports of the system.

Depending upon the configuration of the system, the type of the ADSL modems are chosen for the high speed ADSL broadband connection.

BENEFITS OF THE ADSL

The ADSL broadband advantages can be best known to the users who have used dial up modems prior to the ADSL modems. The speed of the ADSL is very high and enables many online activities such as the downloading, chatting, audio, video and gaming. The websites can be viewed quickly and provides the required information in easy manner. The ADSL Broadband saves money and the valuable time spent on the internet. As the ADSL lines are connected in the private phone lines, these connections are very secured and not interrupted by the external intruders.
